Moonsighting Guidelines

Rabi’ al Thani 1447 AH (September – October 2025)

The Central Hilal Committee of North America provides clear steps for moonsighting on the 29th of each Islamic month. These guidelines ensure that the crescent moon sighting is carried out correctly, documented properly, and verified before declaring the start of the new Islamic month.

📋 Key Steps:
1️⃣ Preparation – Choose an open vantage point with a clear western horizon.
2️⃣ Observation – Focus above the setting sun and extend 30° right and left.
3️⃣ Documentation – Record weather, number of witnesses, moon orientation, location, date, and time.
4️⃣ Identification – Confirm crescent shape, not a cloud or star.
5️⃣ Reporting – Submit reports to CHC representative or info@hilalcommittee.org.
6️⃣ Verification – The CHC validates reports from all regions.

🗓️ Calendar Note: The month of Rabi’ al Thani 1447 AH runs from September 24, 2025, through October 23, 2025. Mark important dates including the 13th, 14th, and 15th for fasting the White Days.
